In a release yesterday, the Chicago Tribune stated that "beginning this week, registration will be required to access premium features such as columnists, reviews, in-depth and investigative reporting and new content from outside news sources.
No fees for premium content will be required at this time, and visitors who don't sign up will still have unlimited access to basic content. Rather, newspaper executives described the new website as a first step toward putting up a pay wall.”
You can read the full story from the Tribune webpage here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-chicago-tribune-website-to-wall-off-some-content-20120626,0,7580787.story. The website will also be redesigned, and some features added.
Members of the Roosevelt Community will continue to have full-text access to the Chicago Tribune through the database ProQuest NewsStand. There are no paywalls to use Library resources! Current students and staff members can access ProQuest from off campus using their full RU ID number. Alumni are welcome to visit the library and access the database on campus.
