Easy Microsoft Windows Vista: see it done, do it yourself
O'Hara, Shelley
If you, like me, think that the title of this book is an oxymoron, you've come to the right place. O'Hara takes the mystery out of the newest operating system. She demonstrates how to work with files, email, the Internet, entertainment and home networking, to name a few. All new PC's are being sold with Vista, so it's just a matter of time before there will be no avoiding it.
P.S: If you learn how to successfully navigate Vista, I could use some tutoring!

McGee, James Paul
The latest buzz in the library world is gaming. All sorts of libraries are jumping on the bandwagon in order to bring people in to the library, and expose them to their extensive resources. McGee has examined 30 video games, including World of War Craft and Half Life 2 in order to answer the title question. He analyzes these games in terms of how they promote cognitive development. i.e., how they grasp meaning, form an identity, evaluate information and perceive the world. At last - scientific evidence for this widespread addiction!

Swimming with crocodiles: the culture of extreme drinking
Marjic, Martana and Fiona Measham, eds.
Published by the International Center for Alcohol Policies, a think tank, this book examines the trend of increased binge drinking among college and high school students. Focus groups were held around the world, and cross-cultural perspectives were considered. The resultant increase in accidents, fatalities and sexual assaults has highlighted the need to find solutions to this problem. Particular attention is paid to the roles that the alcoholic beverage industry, social institutions and public health institutions can take in order to increase awareness and promote shared responsibility for reversing this dangerous behavior.
