Greetings from a new Library Assistant

 

Hello, I’m Micah, the new Library Technical Assistant at the Schaumburg campus library. I started the last week of October, and already I feel at home. I’m very excited to be joining a staff that holds true to the motto "Students First."

I am currently working towards my Masters in Library and Information Science through the online program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am also a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University where I received my B.A. in Philosophy. For a while now, I have been involved in the so called "Web 2.0" movement and the related "Library 2.0" experience that online services are providing to the always connected community. I hope to be involved in this transition to a more collaborative based approach in libraries and information centers around the world. I feel that it is in an educational institution’s best interest to work with, instead of only working for, those who use their services.
