The book contains material on local land development, private-public partnership and foreign investment, as well as related topics. China has emerged as a formidable power, and this book provides insight into some of the ways in which they have achieved their position.

Stealing from each other: how the welfare state robs Americans of money and spirit
Browning, Edgar K.
The book jacket is an attention-grabber: ". . . economist Edgar Browning argues that almost all Americans would be better off if none of the federal welfare-state policies of the last century - including Social Security - would have been enacted." Our Social Security and Medicare systems are sacred cows, yet the resulting welfare state has not enabled enough people to become self-sufficient. My own interest is piqued; I want to see Browning's theories on how to fix our broken system.

Weaver, David B.
Ecotourism is a type of tourism which has as some of its goals, the conservation of biological and cultural diversity of a natural area and minimization of tourism's environmental impact on the area. Weaver examines the business of ecotourism, as well as the ecological and sociocultural impacts on the indigenous communities. Weaver discusses the differences between authentic and counterfeit ecotourism, or "greenwashing", that which purports to be ecologically sound, but is not. In this age of all things green, being green is big business. Weaver has provided his own tour of the phenomenon. A great resource for marketing classes. (as well as a recreational read for those of you in the Sierra Club!)

Healing the whole person: applications of yoga psychotherapy
Ajaya, Swami
Elements of yoga have become popular with the medical and mental health communities. Yoga has also become the focus of empirical research. In particular, meditation has been proven effective in the treatment of various health problems, such as coronary artery disease, pain, anxiety and depression. Yoga psychotherapy integrates the medical, psychological and spiritual aspects of the human being in order to deal with all contributing factors to a patient's problem. Ajaya's book is a useful tool for the psychotherapist, as well as for the layperson interested in his/her mental well-being.
